On March 4th, 2012, the Byzantine Fresco Chapel closed. Its closure marked the end of a landmark agreement, set to expire in February 2012, between the Church of Cyprus and the Menil Foundation. Over the course of three days after the chapel closed, from March 5th-7th, Menil staff and Cypriot officials worked together to deinstall the frescoes and crate them for their long journey home back to Cyprus.
